What an overwhelming 2020 has been so far! The good news is that Christmas will certainly not be the same, but the celebrations will still take place this year. Everyone can agree that 2020 has changed a lot of mentalities and taught us a lot about our environmental impact. More than ever, our planet needs to be treated with respect and with the holidays coming, we thought it would be a good idea to share with you 5 easy steps to have a greener Christmas.
- Choose the right wrapping paper. A great and easy way to reduce your waste is to use less ribbon - or no ribbon at all - when wrapping presents. Opt for recycled wrapping paper, brown paper, tissue or our zero waste ready to give holiday bag.
- Buy certified 'green' or plastic-free gifts. Support local small businesses and look out for respected eco logos (of which we are certified by the way!), such as Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). We have some wonderful Christmas sets available on our website right now - ranging from colorful bamboo toothbrushes to reusable bamboo facial rounds - to make everyone on your list happy. Make sure you are using LED Christmas lights. You can use timers to limit the time lights are on and save energy.
- Make your own eco-friendly Christmas decorations. Be creative and use what nature has to offer to decorate your home. Why not use oranges to put together a gorgeous dried orange garland? Classic holiday ornaments are often made of plastic and by creating your own, you can help the environment and even save money!
- Go for organic Christmas drinks. There’s plenty of organic wines and liquors to choose from and they are also great gift ideas. Enhance your cocktails with our reusable bamboo straws and avoid more plastic waste.
